5 Steps You Can Take Today to Make Your Way Towards Ultimate Fitness

Are you still sitting on your couch or bed and re-assuring yourself that you're probably going to start your diet tomorrow? We all know how that goes most of the time. Losing weight is the only task in which the loss is more beneficial than the gain (but keep it balanced though, you don't want to lose too much!) That is where the dieting and starving kicks in. Most diets are extremely unhealthy and while they do promise a quick and easy weight loss technique, they are still harmful in the long term. If you are barely eating through out the day, you run out of energy and you barely get all the nutrients that your body needs. In addition to that, even if you do make it until the end of the diet and start eating normally, you are probably going to gain it all back...and not just gain it all back, you'll probably end up gaining more than your original weight.

Losing weight and fitness should not be about diets and shortcuts. Rather, it should be achieved through a change in lifestyle

Steps for you to take today:

Here are 5 steps you can take today to make your way towards ultimate fitness and achieve your fitness dreams:

1. Do not forget to drink your H2O:

This step is the first and one of the most important steps you can take to get fit and healthy.
Drinking water aids in making you feel full. Make sure you drink one full glass of water before the start of each meal so that your stomach becomes full and you end up eating less food than you would have without it. Also drink water through out the day because that will also keep you and make you feel full so will most likely binge less on food.
Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily!

Water helps you flush out all the toxins from your body. You might need to go to the bathroom more than usual but it will all be worth it because you'll be flushing out all the harmful toxins stored in your body.

Water also keeps you hydrated. This is also a big plus, because water can keep you from getting dehydrated. If you work out, you sweat a lot and all the loss of water from your body can make you dehydrated. Therefore, drinking more water can restore the hydration in your body which can in turn prove to be quite beneficial for you and you body.

Infuse lemon into your water. You can keep it simple with lemons or you can infuse other fruits into your water as well! Keep a water bottle with you and squeeze lemon juice in the water (or you can put slices of lemon or fruits in it as well) and drink from that water bottle throughout the day. You can also drink lemonade with each meal everyday.

2. Take steps...literally:

If you wanna get fit, you gotta get moving! No one's is telling you to walk miles on the very first day, you just gotta take small steps (see what I did there). You gotta start small. Start with walking 15 minutes on the first day, then move up to 30 minutes and then to 1 hour. It does not matter whether you walk in your home or you prefer to go outside and walk in the park, that is up to you. However, walk! Just move as much as you can. Put on some music or take a friend or your pet to accompany you when you head out for a walk. This way you would not even be able to realize the time passing and it will be fun and healthy at the same time.

Also, some other steps you can take is that move as much as you can. If you drive, park your car a bit further away from your destination so that you would have to walk to get there. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Little changes go a long way.

Keep a pedometer with you. Keep track of steps you take throughout the day. You can also challenge yourself with this. Start with 500 or 1000 steps a day, and then build it up to 10,000 steps a day or maybe go even higher than that!

3. Take on a challenge:

You can find a lot of fitness challenges online. Make sure to keep out at least 10 minutes of your time of the day for taking up a new monthly challenge. You can find tons of these challenges online. They range from 100 squats challenge to 100 push ups challenge. There are various levels such as beginner, intermediate and advanced. There are also full body exercise challenges as well so you can do some research and find the one that you think suits you best. Here is a challenge from blog.myfitnesspal.com that you can start working on today!

4. Put on some music:

It is as easy as it sounds. Just put on some music! Move your feet! Everybody loves dancing. Even if you consider yourself a terrible dancer, it really doesn't matter. You can either do it in the privacy of your room or join a zumba class! All you gotta do is move to the rhythm of the beat. Music makes everything 10 times more fun. Joining a zumba class not only gets you moving but when there are more people doing the same crazy dance moves as you, it just gets more fun and interesting.

Here's a small list of up-beat-move-your-feet type of songs that you should totally dance or even work out to:
  1. "Uptown funk" - Bruno Mars
  2. "Bangarang"- Skrillex
  3. "Kyoto"- Skrillex
  4. "Turn Down for What"- DJ Snake, Lil Jon
  5. "GDFR"- Flo Ride
  6. "Dance with me tonight"- Olly Murs
  7. "Bailando"- Enrique Iglesias, Sean Paul
  8. "International Love"- Pitbull, Chris Brown
  9. "Cheap Thrills"- Sia
  10. "Dessert"- Dawin

5. Get as much sleep as you can:

Getting sleep is extremely important. If you do not get enough sleep, you feel exhausted and tired all the time. Not getting enough sleep forces you to make choices regarding food that are most likely unhealthy. You feel like binging on food unnecessarily and this might make you exceed your calorie limit.

Not getting enough sleep also makes you feel tired so you most likely make other bad choices through out the day. You do not accomplish your work out challenges, or it just compels you to move around less than you normally would in a normal day.

So, make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep at night so that you can function properly the next day. Sleeping less also makes you feel more irritated and annoyed which can create obstacles in your quest to develop positive habits and you are likely to stray away from your changes and go back to your old habits.

Above all that, be postitive.

In addition to a healthy body, you also need a healthy mind. Don't get too stressed about losing weight or getting fit as soon as possible. It takes time. It also takes commitment but that commitment should be towards making small positive changes in your life that will benefit you in the long run.
This has been said countless times but everyone comes in different shapes and sizes and if everyone looked the same, everything would look so monotonous. A person's focus should be on a healthy, happy and fit life rather than trying to fit into society's standards. Therefore, the changes that you make in your life should be something that you can keep up for the rest of your life. That is the only way you lead a healthy life. So, stay fit!
